Welcome back working woman!
Sunday morning at 8:30 as I laid comfortably in my bed, all I could think was "this time tomorrow I'll be at work." After 6 weeks of freedom, the thought was a bit suffocating.
HOWEVER, much to my delight, it has been kind of nice to be back in the swing of things. I started my Monday morning commute with some of my favorite songs to pump me up for the day and cast no judgment on myself for belting my heart out. If anyone would like a copy of my "Get-psyched-for-work" CD, let me know... I credit this mix with my successful first week back (at least partially).
The week has been a good one and Operation: Keep August Fun is well underway. Most definitely, the highlight of the week has been a reunion with my precious friend Emily Wade on Monday! I could not dream up a better way to end my first day back to work. I haven't seen Emily since...well I don't even know! It's been several months, which is WAY too long. Since I have last seen her, the girl has graduated from LAW school. That's right...I know a LAWYER.
I'm sorry that not everyone can be close to Emily, because for those of us who are, it is a HUGE treat! So, after that first day at work, Summer, Emily and I sat on my bed and talked. You know that kind of talk that only the best of friends can achieve. We talked wedding (come on October!!), and family, and work, and friends til our hearts were overflowing! Dinner at Pei Wei (note our fortunes above), where Christie joined in the fun, followed by cookies from Tiffs Treats at the park down the road.
I wish Emily lived here! I wish this were an every day event...like just a few years back when we lived together in Waco. (See the picture below from 5 years ago! Laughing is one of our strong points).
So yes, that was fun...and a surprisingly welcome start to the school year!
