My sweet friend Chelsea was quick to point out that Thanksgiving is the holiday, sandwiched unfortunately close between Halloween and Christmas, that gets the shaft.
In her effort to rekindle the Thanksgiving love, Chelsea offered a challenge to her blogging/tweeting friends to give daily (or weekly...) shout outs to something they are thankful for all during the month of November. AKA 'Thanksgiving Awareness Month'.
Of course, I'll participate. I'll do my best to make it every day til Thanksgiving. No guarantees. That's a lot of posts.
So, today, November 1st, I'm thankful for friends who remind me to be thankful. It's been a hard week so far. Chelsea's blog (and phone chat today) reminded me to breathe, to laugh, to let my heart fill with gratitude. Lauren and Connie listened, encouraged and helped me think straight as we sat on the floor at small-group. Precious Emily texted me this morning with Ps. 75-76 which says, 'I know, Lord, that your laws are righteous, and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me. May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant.' And Susan, goodness Susan, patient, listener Susan asks intentional questions at just the right moment.
So, yes, today I'm very thankful for friends that point me to truth and for the ways the Lord uses that to keep my heart going strong.
