Change is on the horizon.
I’m not gonna lie, I am ready. And here it comes.
January 1st, 2010 – I’m moving to Dallas! After 7 months of living at home in Colleyville, I smile even thinking about moving in with friends. My parents remind me that I have in fact called their home “socially deprived”. Thankfully they found it funny. I didn’t really mean it personally, but going from living down with my nearest and dearest friends for the last 5 years, coming home was a bit shocking to say the least. I went from staying up late laughing, pranking, or being pranked at every opportunity to tivo’ing a wide array of TV shows and watching them with my mom.
It’s been a lovely couple of months, though, and more than ever I love and appreciate my parents. They put up with me even when I leave a trail of minor destruction all behind me (a jacket here, a pair of shoes on the stairs…) and they often even wake up early just to tell me goodbye and make me some tea...which of course I stubbornly resisted for a while. “Mom, I’m fine. I can take care of myself I promise.” Now, however, I’ve been converted and am sad on those rare days when we have no tea.
Nonetheless, all good things must come to an end.
And give way to new good times!
So Chelsea, Angie, and Joanna – brace yourselves. The time is near.
