Let's talk about me and the iphone.
I thought this was such a good idea. I was so excited Christmas morning when I opened that little gem!
Yes, the internet access has been great.
Yes, I love that it saves full conversations on text.
I even love the camera and have way too much fun sending pics to friends.
However, it's apparent that I am the problem here.
I'm all for transparency in this type of situation. I stick my foot in my mouth far too often not to at least get a little laugh out of the deal. If you know me well, you are smiling at that statement. This post is especially for you.
Account of recent mistakes:
*Corrective texts:
1) "Thank you tons" becomes "Thank you Tina". I now affectionately call several people Tina.
2) "how did you even know I was texting?" became "how did you even know I was sexting?" #failineveryway. Followed quickly by a "No, no no!! Oops No! texting. that's ALL I've been doing. ever."
3) trying to say 'they waited a whole week for that'...'whore week'. yep. I did that.
4) Countless little errors. countless.
*Pocket calls
1) ohhhh. this one was funny. got caught by my friend Aaron as I came in the door to tell my roommate about being asked on a date! After spilling the details to her I hear this little voice yelling from my pocket "MAL! MAL!! with WHO??"#beatREDandforcedtoexplain
2) did a similarly awkward call today. Looking at directions on my phone on the way back from a field trip, I slid my phone half way under my leg. My student in the back seat says "uh, hold on - who's that voice?" when the machine picked up #welldangit! Forced to leave a very uncomfortable message
*Alarm clock texts
1) 5:31 am sent one word. 'la' Just trying to turn the ALARM off!!
*Texts just sent too quickly:
1) am I the only one who types out there thoughts with the intention to edit but their thumbs are too long and push send too quickly? Cause yeah, that happened today. #looklikeanidiot
*Alarm clock mis-sets
1) Just canceled the alarm set for tomorrow at 2:39am
2) Woken up at 1:19am earlier this week
3) Alarm goes off at 9:30 in the evening. No idea why.
*Sending a text to the wrong person
1) I've shown signs of improvement in this one. Majorly. I sent 2 wrong texts last month but I've been clean for several weeks now.
*Wrongly saved info:
1) Thought I saved the number to my hair place. Gave it to Carly when she asked for it today. Gold's Gym doesn't cut hair. In my phone it said "Aveda"
I'm posting this because I guess I feel safe here. Please affirm me that I'm not the ONLY one with awkward situations due to new technology.
If we aren't laughing about this, then what can I possibly gain from the awkwardness?
An ulcer. Possibly.
And this is a very real possibility.
Haha. Love it, mal! I think you should just start calling everyone Tina to cover it up.
